Technology Recycling

What do you do with your old computers? Donate them to local schools or charities? Give them to a kid in need? Or are the computers so old that nobody wants them and it's time to recycle them? If you want to get rid of them consider one newer solution provided by the Rethink Initiative.

Many computers and their peripherals create toxic waste when dumped straight into the landfill. The Rethink Initiative partners* have put together a website that will educate you about your disposal options. Before disposing of your computers, remove old data using tools introduced by this site.

If you want to sell your old computers this site will help you value them, a value that will also be of interest should you decide to donate them. If recycling is the path you want to take, this site has several resources to help you find the nearest quality recycler.

Minimize your impact on the planet and properly dispose of your computers. Sell them for cash, donate them for tax credit, or recycle them. It's the ECOnomically Sound thing to do.

* The founding partners include: Apple, HP, Gateway, IBM, USPS, UPS, and Ingram Micro Outlet, the EPA, Earth 911, National Cristina Foundation, and Silicon Valley Toxic Coalition
