Natural Fiber Sheets and Towels
All cotton sheets and towels are fine, and organic is better, but other natural fiber linens are even better -- they are the best!
Natural fiber linens and things -- like sheets and towels -- are one easy step a hotel can make as it increases its sustainable operations. The excellent properties of natural fiber sheets and towels makes them a fabulous fiber to pamper your guests with.
I have personally found cotton polyester blend sheets and towels to be less comfortable to sleep on than 100 percent natural fiber linens. Sometimes the sheets get nubby, scratching me as I try to sleep on them, and the towels often don't feel luxurious. Your guests probably have similar reactions.

And the polyester requires petroleum for its manufacture. That petroleum is probably foreign oil. Reducing our reliance on any oil is good, but foreign oil reliance weakens a society. Sheets and towels don't need polyester when there is cotton and other natural fibers to make superior products.
The biggest problem with cotton, much less cotton polyester, is that cotton is a thirsty plant, taking excessive amounts of water to grow in most of the locations where it's planted. And often cotton production relies on pesticides to help it grow enough to be harvested for the textile industry.
Have you experienced other natural fibers? They are often more environmentally friendly than cotton, and can be even softer and more absorbent. By environmentally friendly I mean they don't require abundant, if any, fertilizers or pesticides; that reduces our reliance on oil since most fertilizers and pesticides are made of petroleum products. They often don't require much additional water so don't stress our water supplies.
Consider bamboo, soy, hemp, silk, modal and other viscose rayon fabrics for your sheets and towels. I have found these natural fiber fabrics to be more luxurious than even a high thread-count cotton fabrics, a nice plus for your hotel guests.
Often natural fiber fabrics, like bamboo and silk, are anti-microbial which means they endure humid climates without getting mold or mildew. They are absorbent, making them great fabrics for towels. They breathe so are good sheet fabrics, comfortable in all climates and weather.
Use natural fiber fabrics in your hotel to help reduce your environmental footprint. Your guests will love they way you pamper them with natural fiber sheets and towels.
