Hiring Kit

Sage Blossom Consulting specializes in sustainable hotels. I help you attain the level of "environmental correctness" -- or sustainable operations -- you want for your hotel. Sustainable Lodging Is Our Business.

The Green Question

It's a Typical Conundrum: You want your hotel to be sustainable -- but you have no idea where to start. You're not sure where to start in your project. Is sustainability going to cost you money, or save you money? Sage Blossom Consulting's services can help you get started, and keep you moving toward your goal of being more environmentally and socially sensitive -- and many of the steps can pay for themselves, or even become a profit center.

"I didn't know where to start, but thanks to your consulting services, I now have a plan. I will certainly use your advice as I restore the house and turn it into a bed and breakfast. I'm looking forward to becoming a more active member of a clean environment."
Giuseppe Cimino Tuscany, Italy

Our Green Compass
I've guided numerous hotels, inns, bed & breakfasts, and other hospitality properties along their sustainability path. You can benefit from my knowledge, logic and passion. I can help you be a successful sustainable hotel too.

"What a great number of ideas you've given me: I'm eager to try them."
Phyllis Waye Alma del Monte--Spirit of the Mountain B&B, Taos, NM

"I will certainly keep in touch and, obviously, if we tackle any more eco resort work we will get you involved at an early stage."
Robert MacLellan MacLellan & Associates, International Resort Consultants, St Lucia

Perhaps you're being "forced" to adopt sustainable practices. Government regulations, stock holders and owners all can be involved in forcing sustainable development and operations.

Being told you have to be a sustainable hotel doesn't help you understand the situation or teach you what to do. Understanding will take the sting out of the requirements. Creative problem-solving will help make the change palatable -- even exciting to your employees and guests, not to mention your accountant.

That's part of what I do: tackle problems to find creative solutions. Sustainable hotels around the world, hotels that are truly sustainable, have found they gain and keep loyal guests through their environmental and social commitments and actions.

You'll find that's true too. Combine the increased earnings and saved expenses, and your bottom line will see the gold in being green. We relish helping change the color of your bottom line to green. The triple bottom line approach to business helps you achieve sustainability and success.

Talk Your Walk

There are several areas you can make your sustainable convictions known to your guests, staff, partners and other investors -- cumulatively called stakeholders. Through education and marketing, your stakeholders will learn what you do and why. This point sometimes seems like the hardest one for hoteliers to incorporate into their operations. I help you craft your message so your commitment is known and appreciated. I can help you craft your marketing to leverage your actions beyond simply "doing the right thing".

"Thanks for the suggestions. You're right, the green promo isn't there. I'll be working to add shortly. Thanks for your ideas and suggestions."
William McQueen Las Manos B&B, Buena Vista, Colorado

Creating a Sustainable Road Map

Becoming a sustainable hotel is a process. It's a series of steps, some small and some big. It's always evolving too. Start with the simple actions and build toward the harder ones, often with early steps helping to pay for later initiatives. Know where you want to go and take green steps as you can. I'll help you set your goals and outline your plan.
