Baja's Wilderness Compound - Villa del Faro

Those in search of a tranquil, tropical vacation escape that respects the natural world around it need look no further than Villa del Faro in Palo Escopita, Baja, Mexico. This beautiful wilderness compound sits on the blue waters of the Sea of Cortez, approximately 25 miles north of Jose del Cabo.

The lovingly landscaped property includes six villas and a central living area that is shared by guests and permanent residents. The entire property is solar powered and the owners have taken great pains to respect the plant and wildlife in the area. There are no phones and no electricity, only an Internet phone for emergencies. The owners use as little water as possible and avoid disturbing the flora and fauna whenever possible. The property was designed, built and adorned by local craftsmen who still live in the area.

Villa del Faro is the perfect launching spot for exploring the diversity and richness of this area, from the desert to the ocean to the mountains. Most activities in the area will make the most of the wild and natural desert and beach ecology. Walking the miles of empty beaches, excellent surfing, fishing, snorkeling, and whale watching are a few of the most popular pastimes. There is a marine reserve at Cabo Pulmo, which provides world-class scuba diving in the pristine blue waters of the Sea Of Cortez.

The owners of the Villa del Faro offer breakfast and gourmet dinners if you reserve a day in advance. There is only one restaurant nearby, two miles down the beach, which is popular with surfers. However there are many experienced eco-tourism and adventure companies in Los Cabos who will help you find the perfect activities in nature for your stay. Daily fishing trips are available, as well as bird watching, cliff hikes, and sunset cruises. The unique ecosystems in this area bring several species of whales migrating through the waters of this region each year.

The local towns offer distinct experiences from the remote "pueblos", such as Todos Santos, to the party atmosphere of the more developed Cabo San Lucas. Todos Santos is known for the quality of its locally grown fruits and vegetables. Day trips can be arranged to unusual natural locations such as the canyons of Sierra de La Laguna, where high levels of rainfall create a unique biosphere with a beautiful waterfall where you can take a swim. Jeep safaris into the mountains and a trip to a government protected sea turtle hatching ground round out the eco-offerings in this part of the world.

With much to offer, consider booking your trip to the Villa del Faro today!
