Air Purifiers

You have a clean property. Housekeeping dusts, vacuums, and sanitizes every day. Why would you need to be concerned with air purifiers? I don't want to scare you, but there are lots of reasons you should be more than concerned about the air in your property. It's time to think about adding an air purifier to your ventilation system.

For starters, air is filled with lots of stuff, stuff floating around that possibly contains problems for you, your staff and your guests. For example, of the things floating in the air, 80% is dead skin. If that's not bad enough, there are over 350 different allergy producing air pollutants and contaminants, including: bacteria; cigarette, cigar and pipe smoke; dander; exhaust fumes; fungi; gases (formaldehyde, benzene, etc.) from cleaning products, construction, dry cleaning, furnishings, furniture, new carpets, and solvents; germs; mold; mildew; odors from body sweat, chemicals, food, mildew, mold, pets, and smoke; pollen; organic and inorganic compounds; and viruses. The effects of breathing these allergy-producing air pollutants vary from mild to severe. According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), 20% of all employees have a major illness related to indoor air pollution such as allergy, asthma, autoimmune diseases, etc. Your guests experience the same reactions, only

Maybe more important to your bottom line than your guests are your employees. Generally, guests don't spend all that much time in your building so catering to their health may hold less appeal to you. But your employees do spend lots of time in the building and their health is of utmost importance to you. Even with the care you take in reducing air pollutants, the air at your property would benefit from cleaning. By not missing many days due to illness they will contribute to your bottom line. If your employees are healthier and happier, they will make your guests happier, improving your bottom line through the loyalty you build.

The EPA estimates an 18% annual production loss to American business is due to poor indoor air quality. What are your productivity losses from sick and absent employees? What are your guest losses due to not having clean air? The U.S. House of Representatives has called indoor air pollution our greatest environmental health problem. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 40% of all buildings pose a serious health hazard due to indoor air pollution, know as Sick Building Syndrome. Some of the most polluted air you breathe isn't downtown, but inside your home and office! It's time for a change.

The change you need to face isn't mere filtration to reduce the pollutants because that's insufficient. Filters often create a breeding ground for pathogens, like bacteria , dust mites and molds, and they do nothing to combat chemicals or odors. Even frequent changing of the filter doesn't rid your system of these contaminants because they haven't been killed, the filter changing actually just releases them back into the air. Additionally, a filter can only clean the air that passes through it. The safest, most effective and lowest cost long-term solution to indoor air pollution available is an air purifier.

There are several air purifier technologies that you may use solo or together. Carbon based (primarily removes gases and odors), ultraviolet, ozone, ionic, electrostatic and HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air). During my research, I realized it was difficult for me to tell the difference between hype and sound research. What I concluded however, was that HEPA and carbon-based filters are a sure bet in being effective in purifying the air for your hospitality venue. Hire a qualified clean-air expert to guide you through the maze of options that will fit your property configuration so you can be sure of getting the most effective -- cost and action -- you can buy.

Tending to your employees' and guests' health by providing air cleaned thoroughly with an air purifier is an ECOnomically Sound decision.
